At Port of Esbjerg

Experience the future of CO₂ logistics

How do we transport captured CO₂ most efficiently to storage sites or PtX facilities?

The Danish startup DecarbonICE has a groundbreaking answer. On Monday, 23 March, the company will call at the Port of Esbjerg with an innovative solution: CO₂ in solid form as dry ice, transported in super‑insulated containers – a solution that is both more efficient, scalable, and significantly cheaper than today’s alternatives.

This is the focal point of the EUDP demonstration project CO2.0 Infrastructure, in which a strong consortium of partners jointly demonstrates a new CO₂ logistics solution at the Port of Esbjerg. We invite you to experience this solution up close.

The event is hosted by the EUDP project CO2.0 Infrastructure, supported by EUDP and carried out in collaboration between the partners: Maersk Container Industry · Port of Esbjerg · Cold Jet · Aarhus University · KIRT x THOMSEN · DB Scandinavia · Fremsyn · GreenGo Energy · Energy Cluster Denmark · Ancotrans · DecarbonICE

❋ Location

Port of Esbjerg Innovation Hub, Dokvej 3, 6700 Esbjerg

Parking is available behind the building and next to the

ferry terminal for the Fanø Line.

❋ Program

Presentation of the CO2 container

Virtual guided tour of the technology

Demonstartion of dry ice as a form of CO2 transport

❋ Meet the Project Partners

Led by experienced guides who know how to hold space, encourage participation, and keep things moving with purpose.

Welcome address by Dennis Jul Pedersen, CEO of the Port of Esbjerg

Henrik O. Madsen, CEO, of DNV, Chairman of Aker Carbon Capture, and board member of the UN Global Compact.

Representatives from the entire value chain, from CO2 capture to transport, storage, and utilisation.

❋ Advantages
  • CO₂ transport is planned in gaseous or liquid form -- this requires solutions with high costs and logistical barriers. With DecarbonICE’s technology, transport becomes:

  • Standardized for road, rail, and sea

  • Up to 80% lower investment costs

  • Safe -- operates at atmospheric pressure

  • Plug & Play with existing container transport
